Track Meet This Thursday – 6/20!

Hello Silverbacks! I feel it would be a good experience, even though we’ve only had 1 practice, to jump in the Boulder meet this Thursday. We will not be running any relays, but everyone can participate in the 100m and 200m. This is not a high-competition meet so don’t worry about feeling any kind of performance pressure. We are fully aware that most of you have very little, if any, track experience, but the best way to learn is by doing. It’ll be good to feel out other athletes in your age category and will give you a boost for upcoming practices. It’s also a good way for us to take a look at how you compete in order to help design individual programs for each athlete.

You will be instructed in a quick lesson, prior to your first event, on how to start. You do not have to use starting blocks, which we will be bringing to practices for you to learn, and you do not have to wear track spikes. However, make sure you wear your best running shoes.

This is not a USATF sanctioned meet. Please also remember that you will need to pay for each event you enter (very inexpensive). Here is the link to our track meet schedule and on that schedule is the link for the Boulder meet on 6/20 so you can get all the information you need.

For this meet, please wear a tank top and running shorts. Here is an example. Feel free to wear any color or variation of that type of design or even just a plain t-shirt and short that have complete range of motion are acceptable. You don’t have to go out and buy anything special. We are trying to get a better discount for official team uniforms, which will include a team singlet with team name, running shorts, and a t-shirt. They information is coming very soon, I promise.
